Minecraft

Summary

I’ve had and played minecraft since before horses, before hunger, before redstone even. Minecraft is a 3-D block placing game accompanied with all of the mining and crafting and fighting (oh my) that you could ever want. Whatever you want to build in Minecraft, you can. Be it a fighter plane, a HUGE model of the Tardis, or a simple dog house for your pet puppy, you think it, you can make it. Also available to you is the ability to join onto multiple servers, with multiple people. Parties of people terraforming the ever-expanding world into whatever they see fit. Heaven on Earth!

Before you jump to conclusions, let me first say “No, I’m not behind on this game.” I’ve had and played minecraft since before horses, before hunger, before redstone even.

I really enjoy Minecraft for a number of reasons. You have endless possibilities for the game you want to play. You can be a farmer, a warrior, an explorer, an archer, or all of them at once. You can build your house out of sandstone, cobblestone, wood, glass, diamonds, or all of them at once. You can build anything, go anywhere, do basically anything you want in that little virtual microcosm that shows what life with those capabilities is like. I also enjoy the realistic points it makes. You can’t jump off of a cliff and hope to survive, you can’t not eat and expect yourself not to grow weak, you can’t stand next to exploding dynamite and think you’ll not be worse for wear. I also enjoy the fact that the world is randomly generated, with little nooks and crannies hiding valuable ores and loot, and the surface has multiple biomes to explore, from tundra to desert. I personally enjoy building my houses with wood in a mountainous or wooded area.

I wish that there were certain things that could add to the fun of Minecraft though. If you lose yourself in monotony once you get items that are decent. If you get iron and are on the cusp of diamonds, you might find yourself in a constant loop of mining for diamonds and not getting enough for your next project. I can’t complain about anything else though, because the game is actually really fun, with mods and servers that can be created to make so many amazing things. I give this game a solid 5 out of 5, because of the amazing fun I have had and most likely will have in the future.
